An environmental database was initiated in 2013 as part of a PhD project and supported by O-LiFE to create a comprehensive database to collect, store and share environmental data on the various fields of research of importance and interest to the observatory. The database includes multi-thematic and multi-stakeholder data that will provide fundamental information to the environment sector in the Mediterranean Basin.
Aiming to provide common tools to facilitate or improve field data acquisition and provide research facilities to the O-LiFE community; the collaborative platform offers a set of tools and makes the available via the O-LiFE website.
O-LiFE in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Environment is creating an online library to compile and organize all existing references on O-LiFE thematic areas: biodiversity, water and environmental management. The main objective of this initiative is to gather environmental data in a free and regularly updated database that is easily accessed by both scientists and the general public. The library will build on an existing database created by a previous project coordinated by the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) – Lebanon, in partnership with Centro Internazionale Di Alti Studi Agronomici Mediterranei – Instituto Agronomico Mediterraneo Di Bari (CIHEAM IAMB) – Italy and the “Institut de Recherche Pour Le Développement” (IRD) – France.
